The Laowa 105mm F2 STF lens incorporates a unique optical design with an apodization element next to the aperture. The APD element resembles the function of an ND filter which becomes thicker towards the perimeter, gradually reducing the amount of light transmission to the periphery to produce a soft, natural and beautifully diffused look out of focus ( = bokeh). Only two other lenses are equipped with this kind of technology (FUJINON XF56mmF1.2 R APD and Sony 135mm (SAL135F28)) The Laowa 105mmF2 STF technology optic offers two separate diaphragms. On the photographer's side, the perfectly circular 14-slat aperture, in conjunction with the apodization element, gives this lens the ability to produce smooth and pleasant bokeh. It is also useful for videographers to control the amount of light that passes through the lens.
